To see our city as an ecosystem, heres a crash course into Ecosystems. Hank brings us to the next level of ecological study with ecosystem ecology, which looks at how energy, nutrients, and materials are getting shuffled around within an ecosystem (a collection of living and nonliving things interacting in a specific place), and which basically comes down to who is eating who.
This perspective insists on being centered on the sacredness of nature, and a recognizing of some spiritual element to the human experience. It see the experiment affected by the observer, and values not profit or greed.
Regarding this thought, how do we achieve such an ideal within the Greater Durban Metro? Is it feasible to think we can nurture completely ‘free’ sacred spaces for Nature? is it possible to create such a space in Durban now, for our future city?
